Who is Cherie of Blonditious Escapades?
My love to travel started with a trip to Bali in 2009. I went with my sister and a group of her friends and we did all the general touristy things Bali safari park, bartering in local stalls, eating delicious food and of course drinking one more cocktail than is necessary. When I arrived home I planned a two month trip of Europe and left less than a year later. My bucket list at this time included trips to Mykonos, Ibiza, Monte Carlo and Venice. All of which got the big TICK.
On arrival the pit in my stomach that just wouldn’t subside. I wanted to travel freely and continue to experience new and exciting places. I packed up my life in Australia and moved to London to work as a Nanny. This kicked the door wide open to Europe and had me tick off over 16 separate countries over the two years I spent living there. I feel like life was lived with more intention during that time and plans for new adventures were always on the cards. My 9-5 job (well 7-7 in my case) was just a means to an end. The element of problem solving that is crucial when travelling keeps me intrigued as a traveller along with the feeling of accomplishment that is experienced after you arrive where you need.
So many of my friends have asked me why I haven’t started a travel blog and now I have been thinking the same thing. Why not? I created this blog to be more intentional in my travel and to accurately document this part of my life for my own benefit and in doing so hopefully help others that are planning a trip to any of the destinations I have been. I have travelled to almost 30 countries and have become increasingly educated in relation to saving time and money and in doing so experiencing cultures more authentically. I have travelled in many ways (group tour companies, trips with one or two friends, and completely solo) and have something to offer with this wealth of experience.
